Long Weekend

I had a long weekend. And I believe that I was able to spend my time wisely; doing things I love to do and being with people I care the most.

Saturday

I spent half of the day with my Caring Group peers. We prayed; praised the Lord for His greatness, thanked Him for the abundant blessings we’ve been receiving; asked pardon for our sins; and lifted up each other’s worries, concerns and needs.

We’ve also shared our highs and lows during the past week. We were not complete but still, we enjoyed hearing each other’s stories, for they are all unique. We also talked about how we’ve been serving God through our talents and how we wish to serve Him more. We also recalled how much we are blessed each time we give back to God what is due to Him.

Sunday

My mother arrived from Samar at around six in the morning. I was so happy to see her once again since I rarely go home to the province and she’s busy with her work too. I was very grateful that she was able to arrive home safely.

We ate breakfast and prepared to go to “The Feast” in Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig. That would be my mother’s second time. But, it was my brother and sister-in-law's first. Since the day I started attending “The Feast” early this year, I have felt blessed more than ever. And I wanted to share this blessing with others. So, from that day on, I’ve been inviting my brother and my sister-in-law to attend as well. They’ve had a lot of excuses but I kept praying that one day they’d finally see and feel for themselves the great I joy I feel whenever I praise and worship the Lord. I wanted their lives to be changed, too. Finally, after seven months, I was able to bring them with me last Sunday in Valle Verde. And they were blessed indeed!

They each got their own “Novena to God’s Love”. They were very excited to write down their own dreams and wait for them to come true as they pray and do their share in making those dreams a reality.

I was very happy myself knowing that I have brought two people closer to God in my own little way. I have also seen in The Feast my current inspiration. He never ceases to amaze.

Monday

I went to Sto. Domingo Convent with my mother to visit my brother, Erick and my friend, Junel. We talked about a lot of things. I could see in my mother’s eyes how she missed and misses my brother and how happy she was to spend just a few hours with him. My brother entered the seminary last 2006, and since that day, my mother only gets to spend time with him during summer vacation.

It’s amazing how time flies so fast. Just a few years back, we were all living together, but now, my siblings and I have been living different lives, following distinct paths, in order to achieve our ambitions in life.

Thus, it is always important to step back once in a while. To spend quality moments with the ones we value the most. Our time is our greatest offering.

I love long weekends.
